3 Different Kinds of THC Concentrates
THC is the primary psychoactive compound in the cannabis plant and is the primary ingredient responsible for producing the high associated with marijuana. THC concentrates, also known as extracts, are created by extracting the THC compound from the cannabis plant and distilling it into a concentrated form. This concentrated form of THC can be used to create various forms of extract, each with its own unique properties, consumption methods and effects.
One of the most popular types of THC extract is the shatter. Shatter is a type of cannabis extract that is made by concentrating THC-rich resin under intense heat. The resulting product has a glass-like texture and can be broken into smaller pieces or “shards” for ease of use. Shatter is most popularly consumed by dabbing, which is a form of vaping that involves heating the extract and inhaling the vapors it creates.
Another popular type of THC concentrate is wax. Contrary to shatter, wax has a more viscous texture and is typically heated with a dab tool before being inhaled. Wax is considered easier to use than other forms of extract due to its malleable nature. It is also known to produce a stronger, more immediate high than other extract forms, making it a popular choice for consumers looking for a quicker, more intense high.
The last and most potent form of THC concentrate is “the oil,” commonly known as BHO or butane hash oil. BHO is made by feeding pressurized butane through cannabis, which extracts the THC from the plant. The resulting product is a highly concentrated substance with an even higher THC content than shatter and wax. However, due to its highly flammable ingredients and complex extraction process, it is not recommended for those unfamiliar with the techniques and safety protocols of BHO extraction.
No matter which form of THC concentrate you decide to use, it is important to understand the risks involved and make sure that you are consuming the extract safely. All forms of THC extraction should be handled with proper care and knowledge, regardless of the user’s experience level.
